These digital photos of a small butterfly (2-1/2 to 3-1/2 cm in wingspan, and an endagered Mission Blue Butterfly were taken on March 10, 1998 by
Jef and Aza Raskin. The location is a concrete step near the northwest corner of their house on Gypsy Hill Road. In the upper picture a pine needle rests over the butterfly's wing. These butterflies are often seen in the spring near the house. The Mission Blue is an endangered species that lives in only a few locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
